Introduction to Netatalk
This manual explains how to install, configure, and operate Netatalk. It is intended for system administrators setting up AFP file services, whether for current macOS systems or older Macintosh and Apple II clients.
Start with Installation to obtain Netatalk and prepare the host, then continue to Configuration for the initial server and volume setup. The following chapters describe individual features and supporting components, such as CNID backends, character sets, authentication, access control, search, and legacy AppleTalk services. Read Upgrading before moving an existing server to a new major Netatalk release.
The command, configuration-file, and administrator-command references link to the corresponding manual pages, where complete option descriptions and command syntax are maintained.
